How to Preserve Formatting in Confluence Postmortem Templates

When creating automatic postmortem pages in Confluence through the integration, there are two methods to ensure formatting is preserved:

Method 1: Use Confluence Template

Create your template directly in Confluence, then reference it in your Rootly workflow:

1. Create and format your template in Confluence as desired

2. In your Rootly workflow settings, attach this Confluence template to the automation that creates the retrospective document

Method 2: Use Atlassian Markdown

Create your template in Rootly using Atlassian-compatible markdown syntax:

1. Edit your template in Rootly

2. Use Atlassian markdown syntax to apply formatting

3. The formatting will be preserved when the document is created in Confluence
